About Us

The IEEE Microwave Theory and Technology Society(MTT-S) is a transnational society with more than 11,000 members and 190 chapters worldwide. Our society promotes the advancement of microwave theory and its applications, including RF, microwave, millimeter-wave, and terahertz technologies.

Established in 1952, for more than 70 years, the MTT-S has worked to advance the professional standing of its members and enhance the quality of life for all people through the development and application of microwave technology. As we enter into an exciting future, our mission is to continue to understand and influence microwave technology and to provide a forum for all microwave engineers. The MTT-S will continue to be the global focus for the promotion of the RF and microwave engineering profession, by advancing and distributing knowledge and supporting professional development.

This is an all-volunteer society, driven to excellence by its leadership and with the active participation of all its world-wide members. The activities sponsored by the MTT-S include a broad spectrum of conferences, workshops, tutorials, technical committees, chapter meetings, publications and professional education programs. Our principal publications and conferences are world class, peer-reviewed and recognized as top of the class. Our professional venues provide a great opportunity for networking with experienced innovators, experts, and practitioners. Our volunteer programs provide for the development of critical, non-technical skills that enable you to be more effective professionally.

Founded in 1949, the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society (APS) is an international organization active in over 40 countries. The field of interest of the Society includes the following: antennas, including analysis, design, development, measurement, and testing; radiation, propagation, and the interaction of electromagnetic waves with discrete and continuous media; and applications and systems pertinent to antennas, propagation, and sensing, such as applied optics, millimeter- and sub-millimeter-wave techniques, antenna signal processing and control, radio astronomy, and propagation and radiation aspects of terrestrial and space-based communication, including wireless, mobile, satellite, and telecommunications. APS provides members affordable access to cutting-edge technical information covering antenna systems and electromagnetic wave propagation and scattering in complex media for wireless communication, sensing, medical, and other applications. Membership includes access to multiple periodicals, including magazines, reduced conference registration rates, and members-only content on the AP-S website.

The IEEE Electromagnetic Compatibility Society (EMCS) is the world’s largest organization dedicated to the development and distribution of information, tools and techniques for reducing electromagnetic interference. The society’s field of interest includes standards, measurement techniques and test procedures, instrumentation, equipment and systems characteristics, interference control techniques and components, education, computational analysis, and spectrum management, along with scientific, technical, industrial, professional or other activities that contribute to this field. Membership includes access to multiple periodicals, networking opportunities, and discounts to EMC’s Annual Symposia.

History

Hyderabad hosts a significant number of RF & Microwave, Antenna and EMI-EMC Professionals, spread across various research laboratories, academic institutions, PSUs and industries. The IEEE MTT-S/AP-S/EMC-S Joint Chapter was established in 2008 under IEEE Hyderabad Section to further the interests of these common-interest professionals. This joint chapter has since been highly active and has been very successful to bring professionals from these fields to common platform.

The chapter is driven by the motivated volunteers and members to increase the spread of microwave technologies, antennas & propagation, electromagnetic compatibility related knowledge and information among professionals and researchers. The chapter has been led and guided by eminent researchers and academicians resulting in continuous growth in chapter membership and activities. The MTT-S/AP-S/EMC-S jt. Chapter of Hyderabad Section with around 800 members is a vibrant group fostering growth, engagement and collaboration among its members.

The MTT/AP/EMC Jt. Chapter Hyderabad has received Outstanding Chapter Award for the year 2015 and 2021 for its outstanding contribution towards achieving goals of serving society through technical advancements.

Activities

The joint chapter co-sponsored and held various conferences, workshops and Lecture events in the emerging areas of research and in the field of interest of its members. The chapter has organized multiple lectures under Distinguished Lecturer (DL) program of MTT-S, AP-S and EMC-S and under IEEE AP-S Young Professional Ambassador Program.

The chapter has organized two international conferences i.e., IMaRC-2015 and InCAP-2018. The International Microwave and RF Conference, IMaRC-2015 has been a very successful event of MTT-S/AP-S/EMC-S Jt. Chapter, Hyderabad. The Indian Conference on Antennas and Propagation InCAP-2018 brought distinguished speakers, researchers, industry experts and students from across the world on common platform to share and enhance knowledge, connect and collaborate in their common field of interests.

The chapter has invited prominent speakers and experts in their respective fields to deliver talks, conduct workshops and seminars. The joint Chapter has been host to various eminent personalities from India and across the world for delivering talks and interact with its members. The MTT-S/AP-S/EMC-S Joint Chapter jointly with IEEE Hyderabad Section organizes its flagship “Sir JC Bose Memorial Lecture” every year on 30th November on the occasion of birth anniversary of Sir Jagadish Chandra Bose. The MTT-S/AP-S/EMC-S joint chapter is committed to provide a common platform for researchers, academicians and students to network, engage, interact, collaborate and grow in their endeavor of achieving higher professional competence and serving the society using technical acumen.
